RECIPE FOR A SONG

Songs are a unique and endlessly expressive artform, and I would love for you to add this tool to your repertoire. 

How many of these words can you define?

Make a list in your notes and define each in your own words 

 THE STRUCTURE

Verse, Chorus, Bridge, Rhyme Scheme

Many (not all) songs and poems are organized into structures that span from big to small. There are lots of different ways to discuss those structures, we're going to use a simple one organized by vowel sound and letters.

CONTENT AND FORM

An ANTHEM is a type of song used to express sentiments from nationalism to empowerment. The only requirement is that it stand for something. How many can you think of?

TASK:

MUTE YOUR MIC AND TAKE FIVE MINUTES AND FIND AT LEAST TWO SONGS KNOWN AS ANTHEMS. THEN REPORT BACK.

-Examine your writing, see if you can shape it into a rough structure. Circle things you like, add other thoughts, develop your ideas into the rhyme scheme you chose.
